This Momma’s Guide to a Quiet Time Binder

by mommakristi on August 10, 2012

I mentioned in my HelloMornings post that I have a quiet time binder that I use during my morning time. My binder was inspired partly by Amanda. I’m a sucker for all things spiral, binder, and school supply. I realized I wasted much time each morning trying to find my proper notebook to journal in, or sheets of paper that my study were on. Then in between sessions of HelloMornings, I struggled with what to do!!! I learned from Katie Orr (katieorr.me) to have a default study, so that way when I completed a study or was between studies, I wasn’t looking for something new to do. So I keep all my Focus 15, Savoring Living Water, and past HelloMornings studies in this perfect little blue binder.

I found that if I print my Hellomornings study on half sheet and hole punch, I have a back sheet to write my notes on each day.

I have current studies separated from past studies.

I may need to create a separate binder for all past studies when I get that many! (How amazing would it be to have all these studies lined up on my shelf as reference!!!?)

I also created a section for prayer requests. I do some prayer journaling in this section during my quiet time. I like being able to write down my prayers.

My default section is also in this binder and my default study has become writing SOAP notes. Whenever I’m in between specific Bible Studies or books, I pick a book of the Bible and SOAP note through it. I write out Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. My favorite thing to do is pick a verse in the Psalms to SOAP, but I find it works for any verse of scripture.

I have my quiet time binder tucked in my HelloMornings bag (which I will tell you all about in another blog post).

This binder isn’t set in stone and will be pretty easy to add and subtract sections from.  Do you have a quiet time binder?  Am I forgetting any sections??

I like this!!! Thanks for sharing!! I used to be only a fan of moleskins for Bible note taking but I’ve slowly changed my ways and like the loose leaf paper better for this reason! I need to get my act together and put one of these in place for my mornings!!

how fun!! i do have a quiet time binder and have actually been posting some about it recently! a friend referred me to your site this morning, since she saw the connection of the binders! it is definitely a fun tool to use in my time with the Lord. i use mine a little differently than you do, but that is the beauty of it, isn’t it? :)

blessings,

I don’t do well with binders. I do much better with spiral bound notebooks. I like the idea of having different sections for prayer requests and such. I think I will look for a good quality multi-subject spiral and get some 3M tabs to label the sections. Thanks for the tips.
