This Momma’s Guide to Bible in 90 days #b90days

by mommakristi on August 31, 2012

Several of my good online friends are doing B90days this time around.  I can honestly say it was a huge growing point for my faith (and life) when I read the Bible from front to back in 90 days.  It was one of the darkest points of my life (when my dad was sick) and the strength I found in the Word amazed me!!

I thought I’d throw out some of my favorite tips from my own experience in doing B90days.
1.  Read the Word before reading anything else!!!
I didn’t read any blog posts or blog posts until my daily reading was done.  I didn’t read any other books (until about half way through and I started reading 1000 gifts (but not until my daily reading was done).
2.  Read on your phone.
I loved using the YouVersion reading plan. Even though I had the official B90 bible, I found that I could read at any time, and I did.  I read in line at the grocery, waiting for the pediatrician, basically anytime I would’ve been on twitter or surfing, I was reading the Bible instead.
3.  Just read.
This is not the time to be doing in depth study or research. I underlined and highlighted.  I made notes of verses to come back to.  But I only read.  I looked at the Bible like a story.  While I may not have gotten a ton of theology out of reading it like this, I saw the Old Testament stories and the gospel come alive on the pages before me!!!
4.  Find accountability.
When I joined the B90 challenge, that is when I first started on twitter.  I met amazing gals in my group and in the challenge through the twitter chats and everyday chatter.  It felt so good to tweet when I had my daily reading done and it was so fun to encourage the other ladies doing the same.
5.  Keep on reading
When I finished a days reading, I kept going if I could.  I would try to start the next day’s reading before bed and continue through it during my morning quiet time.  There were days I just couldn’t read, and I was so thankful for those days that I read ahead and had a cushion.  I’m so proud to say I even finished early!!!  (still gives me goosebumps to think about).

So there you have it.  I’m no expert, but I found these things to work great for me!!  Have you ever participated in the Bible in 90 days, either online or at your church?

I loved Bible in 90 days last year, I was feeling scattered and distant and I just read. I read on my youversion app on my phone too and loved it, read everywhere! I also didn’t finish unil day 104, but I finished. I am a different person because of it, and will do it again!
