The one where I realize how important it is to #getdressed

pleated poppyI’ve always been a super huge stalker fan of WIWW over at the Pleated Poppy.  But I have to confess, I was at a season in life where it didn’t make sense. Three little boys in diapers, working night shift on the weekends, come on, let’s just say what it was, I lived in scrubs and sweats (and I didn’t even work out).

As the seasons have changed and my baby turned 2, along with wanting to lose the “baby weight” I’ve realized that when I get dressed I feel so much better about myself.  It’s not nearly as much about fashion as I kind of wish it was, (I’m a wannabe fashionista, I’ve said it before), it’s really more about me taking care of myself.

I’m finding the root of the issue isn’t just getting dressed, it’s staying dressed, as I often return to my sweats after preschool pickup.  However, #getdressedstaydressed was too long of a hashtag to try.  I don’t expect anyone to be truly inspired by my outfits I post, but maybe you’ll find inspiration in the process of self discovery and taking care of yourself.

So here is what I wore:

This picture was taken at Target.  Jeans, plain t, sweater, and fun new shoes from Payless (that were inspired from pinterest)

I still work weekend nights at the hospital, but I’ve graduated from surgical (fat) scrubs to a more fitted style (and I find I feel much better in them).

Unseasonably warm temps this week and I ventured back into a skirt.  Skirt and sweater from Old Navy.  Shirt from Compete Every Day.  Shoes from Clarks.

I know, it’s not much, but it’s a challenge to myself that I’m willing to accept.  My family deserves the best of me and I deserve to take care of myself.

Does getting dressed make a difference in your day?

I’m living this right now! I woke up this morning and realized I wore sweats every day this week {except when leaving the house}. Today I have my nice jeans on and a pretty sweater and I feel better already. I’m glad I’m not the only one going through this but you are right – we need to #getdressed!

Thanks Becky. It’s not necessarily fun to see these pictures of myself, but I am totally motivated to keep this up!!! Please keep me updated on how it is going for you!!!
